Elaine H. Baker, Fall Grandparent’s Lunch
November 15, 2025 @ 9:45 am - 1:00 pm

If you are new to CAR, our Grandparents Lunch is a time join other grandparents from through SE Mass to learn about an important topic related to autism and have a great lunch & conversation with other grandparents.
As Elaine Baker was fond of saying, “Grandparents not only worry about their grandchild, but they worry about their child too”
Our speaker Shannon Sousa CCC-SLP, ATP will be talking about Assistive Technology!! Also known as AT, Assistive technology is defined as “any item that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of an individual with a disability.” (A little secret… most of us use some form of AT every day and don’t even know it!!)
NO matter your Grandchild’s age you will learn how AT can benefit their safety, communication, independence, emotional regulation, and activities of daily living and MORE!
Shannon will also be discussing:
- DIY options for assistive technology
- The SETT Framework for selecting possible AT supports
- Factors that lead to tech success or abandonment
- Medical necessity and insurance funding
- Shannon will also be bringing items to check out!
A Northern Italian Buffet will follow… including Baked Ziti & Chicken Marsala. After lunch we invite folks to check out the Resource Fair & Bazaar!
Questions, contact Jan Randall janrandall@communioty-autism-resources.com
We hope grandparents will join us for the VERY POPULAR event and that parents will encourage their child’s grandparents to attend.
