A Conversation About: Driving with Autism With Andrew Arboe

April 3 @ 6:15 pm - 7:15 pm

Join Community Autism Resources for…A Conversation About: Driving with Autism With Andrew Arboe

Transportation has various modes like buses and trains, while cars are used by the majority. Having transportation improves overall quality of life and independence. Andrew goes over his reason for driving because of how necessary a license was for his college degree. Realizing the limitations it would bring, Andrew decided to pursue driving, despite the challenges of driver training and state resources. What helped was going to a driving school where Andrew got confidence from their controlled road lessons. Afterwards, Andrew found places to use for completing road practice and scheduling his road test. The test came and went, and he obtained his license. It inspired Andrew to advocate for more public discussion for driving and the advocacy gave him a sense of empowerment. He became empowered to fulfill his employment plans and worked in various schools and nonprofits due to his license. Time will be allotted for questions!
