DESCRIPTION:Dr Prizant will be discussing: Uniquely Human: There is no such thing as “Autistic Behavior”\nThere are many misconceptions about autism and the experience of autistic people. SUMMARY:Help!\, My Child is Regressing! Zoom Chat w/ Dr. Karen Levine
DESCRIPTION:Are you concerned about the possibility of your child regressing academically or behaviorally as we shelter at home? \nJoin us to hear Dr Karen Levine as she offers new perspectives and ideas. This talk will take place on the Zoom App. \nTime will be allotted for questions.  Although this event is free pre-registration is required and space is LIMITED! \n\nClick here to register! \nAbout Dr. Karen Levine: As a Developmental Psychologist of more than 25 years\, Dr. Karen Levine’s passion for improving the well-being of children who have developmental\, social or emotional challenges has been the driving force throughout her career.  She incorporates a developmental\, relationship-based approach to assessment and treatment\, incorporating playfulness and fun into treatment when feasible\, as a means of lowering anxiety and distress.  Karen believes there is not a ‘one size fits all’ approach to assessment or treatment\, and that individual children and families need different kinds of support at different points in their development. \n\nVisit her website here! \n\n

SUMMARY:PEERS® for Young Adults Online Social Skills Group
DESCRIPTION:PEERS® for Young Adults is an evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated young adults between 18-38 years of age who are interested in learning skills to make and keep friends and develop romantic relationships. This internationally acclaimed program was originally developed at UCLA by PEERS® Clinic Founding Director\, Dr. Elizabeth Laugeson.\nDuring each group session\, young adults are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills.\nYoung adults must be socially motivated and attend each session with a social coach \nSocial Distancing doesn’t have to mean social disengagment.\nDuring the stay at home advisory\, this course will be offered online over a zoom meeting.\nThis will be free of charge to adults (18+) living within our service region.\nAll participants will need a social coach to take this course with them.  A social coach can be a parent/guardian\, adult sibling\, staff\, etc. \nIn order to participate\, both the young adult and social coach will need a separate computer\, tablet\, or smartphone with internet access for our zoom meetings. \nWe will run this on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm starting on May 6th and concluding on June 24th. \nYoung Adults will learn about:\n• Conversational skills\n• Appropriate use of humor\n• Electronic Communication\n• Handling Direct and Indirect Bullying\n• Handling Arguments and Disagreements\n• Organizing Get-Togethers with Friends\n• Dating Skills\n• Strategies for Handling Dating Pressure \nTo get more information or to register contact Mary Fox\, Certified PEERS® Provider\nMfox@community-autism-resources.com
