Gottschall Access Program Openings

Community Autism Resources, Inc. is seeking qualified candidates for positions within the Gottschall Access Program at Bristol Community College. The Gottschall Access Program is dedicated to providing a college experience to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders to learn life skills, vocational skills, and social skills which will enable them to function in internships, and then, eventually, in a job. This will take place on a college campus where there will be the opportunity to integrate into the college community on many different levels.

 

JOB TITLE: Program Coordinator

PART TIME POSITION                                         

Primary responsibilities will include assessment, consultation, on-site support to various Internship Programs our students are attending; development of additional Internship opportunities within the community. Travel required.

Successful candidates will have: the minimum of a Bachelor's degree in

Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field. Must have experience with individuals, preferably adults, with autism spectrum disorders and be willing to learn about or know about what community resources are available. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.

 

JOB TITLE: Teacher Assistant

PART TIME POSITION                                         

Primary responsibilities will include: assist in a direct way each course instructor in his/her preparation, implementation, evaluation recording of daily lesson plans as directed by the instructor; actively assist the instructor in addressing student needs; agree to share particular talents skills to enhance the students school program; assist individual students while in the classroom by moving around the room being alert to individual student learning styles; and supervise students during arrival and dismissal processes.

Successful candidates will have: the minimum of a Bachelor's degree or working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field. Must have experience with individuals, preferably adults, with autism spectrum disorders and be willing to learn about or know about what community resources are available. Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.

 

JOB TITLE: Teachers for the following courses: Life Skills; Organic Farming and Theatre

PART TIME POSITION: Each Course is 1 hour, 2 times per week + prep time (Year 1)

We are looking for a committed Instructors to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the Gottschall Access Program requirements. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping them develop skills.

The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust. They will know how to organize an instructional environment and make learning an easy and meaningful process.

The goal is to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their potential.

Successful candidates will have: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution;

Instructors must have at least 2 years’ experience in a professional setting with individuals, preferably adults, with autism spectrum disorders, and have teaching experience in the subject matter. Effective oral and written communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills.
